These fish in the video do not puncture your skin. Your skins exist out of
three layers. the first layer is also where dead skin is formed to add
protection to the foot when walking etc. Back before we had shoes this dead
skin would be removed by sand, dirt and stones. Because we have shoes the
amount of dead skin can build up allot. I have seen 0.4 cm of dead skin on
a 43 year old man who never had a pedicure. These fish love dead skin
cells. You can not get a disease from them period.
These remind me of my otocinclus. Every time I stick my hand in the tank,
they like to rush up and latch onto my hand and start eating away at the
dead skin. It doesn’t hurt and it actually tickles. It’s not really
unsanitary, it’s just banned in some places for certain reasons.

These fish DO NOT “LIKE” dead skin. They eat skin only when they are
STARVED enough to do so. Look it up. It’s available FACT like all over the
Internet that they are STARVED to perform this little service. That’s

water is clean. Learn more about new things before you start criticizing

I know that some spas imported the wrong kind of fish (Chin chin fish)
which caused problems. The chin chin is a larger (32 cm long), more
aggressive fish that is prone to cannibalism. Their bites are very likely
to draw blood and will damage the skin. They feed by latching on to both
live and dead skin and peeling it off. I’m guessing something like that
would hurt and may become infected if not tended to.

but these fish are in a tank… the poop sits at the bottom and you have to
manually clean it every few weeks… a filter doesn’t get all the poop out,
so they are still swimming in, and probably eating their own poop…. I
much rather do this in a natural lake… especially if your doing this in
the same tank other people have used.
