cosmetology school….there are local beauty schools all over the place. you don’t need to go to college if that’s all you want to do.

You need to go to college and study a beauty course that covers nail art and then do some work experience.
It depends on the college you choose as to what qualifications you’ll need to get onto the course.

No, you don’t need math or anything intelligent to become a nail artist.
You have to go to a school that teaches nail art…a beautician school or something….after you finish high school.

Cosmetology and nail technology is a great career path. Doing something you are passionate about, getting paid well, having plenty of job opportunities even in a recession – it’s really wonderful.
You will need to attend beauty school to get licensed to become a nail technician. It may not be required to work in a salon, but it’s always a good idea to apprentice with working professionals and get on-the-job training. Most schools just require a high school diploma or GED to get in. Most states require a certain number of school hours, and a certain number of actual practice/training hours.
When you become a licensed nail technician through beauty school you will likely learn the following: shaping and filing nails, coloring nails, applying acrylics and gels, hand massages, nail design, nail artistry, pedicures and manicures.
The links below have more information about nail technology schools and their requirements. I also included a link where you can enter your zip code and find beauty schools that offer nail technology programs in your area. If you are only a year away from graduating, you need to request info from them soon to start making your decision!
