There are simply things you miss out on when you have a child with autism or special needs. Priscilla has missed out on some of the traditional mother and daughter activities and it’s always been something that she’s longed for. At school they’ve used a foot spa and we’ve used one at home as well to get Abbie comfortable and possibly to the point of enjoying being pampered at a nail salon. Is this a necessary life skill that she’s learning or something that will help her in the future? No, of course it isn’t…but it’s enjoyable and makes us all smile. Life is short, seek things that make you smile. We hoped one day Priscilla and Abbie would both be able to enjoy going to the salon together. Today is that day. Abbie’s first time pedicure.

My mom is always insisting I do girlie things especially for weddings and parties and such. For some reason it makes her happy. So I can totally see why Ms. P wanted this and was so happy. that it happened. 🙂
