I was invited to partake in a free treatment at the new beauty salon, Wax in the City. It is conveniently located in Sandton City and is a members only facility.

See a podiatrist, a beautician can only paint your nails and massage your feet and perhaps cut your nails but wont be able to tell if you have any infections, warts or verrucas, so the best bet is to see a podiatrist, also it will probably be cheaper.

You go get a pedicure to make your feet look nice. You go to a podiatrist if you are having problems with your feet!

Hi,

I’m a manicurist… I can answer this question for you… If you just removing a little dead skin buildup. Then just goes for a nail’s salon an get it done… get a luxury pedicure to so they can exfoliates your foot. Podiatrist? is for anything serious like you having a huge corn or a fungus, so they can cure you… or something more serious.

  1. If you just want to remove callouses and dead skin a nail technician is your best bet. Most salons use a product called callous remover it is a chemical compound that breaks down the hard dead skin and allows the nail technician to slough off the hard skin. They will also use a pumice stone or some sort of foot file.
Nail technicians will give you a wonderful relaxing service equip with a massage and painting, they are usually a lot less rough than a podiatrist, also they will refer you if there appears to be any problems with your feet.
A podiatrist is your best bet if you have any foot conditions.

  2. Having a pedicure is just for cosmetic maintenance of the foot (eg removing dead skin, filing and painting nails etc). Going to the podiatrist means that you have feet that look like ginger and need serious attention!!!!

hi i am a qualified beauty therapist and i work along side a podiatrist. In a pedicure we cut and file the nails do cuticle work remove general build up of dead skin massage the feet and polish so this is more of a pampering treatment where as the podiatrist deals with problemed feet with foot diseases and dissorders such as ingrowing toe nails, veruccas corns, fungus of the nail etc. having a pedicure is cheaper than a podiatrist if you have it done in the local salons it is between £18-£22 for a pedicure and between £23-£30 for a podiatrist treatment. you should be ok with a pedicure if it is just a little dead skin build up.
